Selene

I would dream the women back
who danced themselves alive
who loved the vivid night,
circling under the full moon.
They stamped on earth,
their ankle bells ringing,
silver skirts swinging wide,
dancing their benediction
to drums, flutes, the torches
held high, so she could see.

a living photograph into the inner spirit of woman/humankind.
