Dark Matter

..when the great globe of the universe
safely designed and holding
earth at the center

..when they couldn't find the mask,
the safety-belt of belief,
the kindly priests and astrologers

..when childhood seeped out
into the endless uncertain,
into great spirals traveling
    through dark matter
    through black holes
    galaxies on fire
    stars exploding
    on and on to no-one
    knows where,

then the music went wild
the dancers, no language to explain it,
all became the pregnant mystery.

  1. Love this, not least the way it goes somewhere I didn't anticipate.

  2. That third verse is wonderful. Really loved reading that, as well as the rest of the poem.

    Great work.
