Lararium

Walking backwards into a fugue,
into hidden ancestors' notes
all vocalizing my heart's necessity,
deeper than any tattoo, all through
to the marrow's remembering.

I set up a family shrine,
burn a bloodless offering,
pray gratitude
to the powers
behind me.

  1. "Walking backwards into a fugue" - what a wonderful way to back into your lovely imaginative poem - I find myself returning to read it again and again (and more of your work actually, since it intrigues me), very nice ... all of it.

  2. Love the poem. Also love your new "About Me". So I guess poetry IS about getting Rich. (too bad about the money part)
