White Sky

Under a white sky,
    heat slows, numbs
    and the fields
    crouch down
    praying for rain.
Leave me quiet,
    under a juniper.
Leave me in the thirsty
    animal of my body.
I’m landing on my planet,
    here in the terrible,
    beauty of now.
