Angel

Something is there, just
like a quiet night, present,
an open pause, the almost reached,
yet through us, a current
of music, a gentle Christmas morning
where we stand barefoot, in sudden
robes of indecipherable light.

    I shouldn't start with such a minor quibble, though, as this is — as always — a small masterpiece. I love the atmosphere you create with such apparent ease.

    Oh! (re-reading) it's just beautiful, and sends the authentic shiver up my spine — the one by which Robert Frost said we recognise true poetry.
