Chinese Poetry

a new blue umbrella
stands against the August sun—
reading Chinese poetry

If I go Buddhist will you still love me?
I mean, even if
I rave about problems in Pound's Cathay
or fall for Milarepa?
I mean, please don't get mad...
you know me -
I have to follow the river...
I mean Basho's river...
not downstream, either.

  1. I love this. It made me chuckle. "If I go Buddhist, will you still love me?" Made me smile. Still smiling.
