Songs to Dreamboat Annie

A boat of lovers,
the music carries us out to sea
almost alone, each
reaching for the other shore...
just a little more rowing

past childhood islands
where old shed skin still gleams
like too tight jeans
on the shadowed dream world floor.
Listen as we sail away,

guitars filling the sails
with remembered songs while
a sly otter smiles, rocking
to the rhythm of our hearts.
Now, then, and it begins again.

  2. I also was drawn to the second stanza. Childhood islands - it made me think of a new take on memory lane, only not on foot but in a boat. Very cool :)

  4. One of my husbands favorite bands - tells tales of seeing Heart in Montana when they were still playing bars. Great poem - loved the final stanza! K

    1. I suddenly ran into the music after a long time away. How cool to have seen them early on.

  9. The sheen of those jeans... great simile for that shed, gray and shiny. Nice image.
